I desperately would like to see a more socialist "fairer for all" government. I believe in an ever-shrinking, ever more interconnected world, that that also inevitably means we need to be inside the EU. EU citizens are our neighbours, our friends and our loved ones. In 2016 Brexit rotated the political landscape through a full 90 degrees. From being divided vertically between left (socialist) and right (free-market capitalism) to being divided horizontally between Leave (absolute national sovereignty) and Remain (joining in a pan-European project as a team player).   Yes, it is that simple! The Tories understood this and repositioned their party to be the triumphalist flag-waving party of Leave. What Will Happen With NI Protocol Debacle What Are the Possibilities? The UK joins the Single Market  (SM) - Sadly I doubt this will be the outcome. SM requires level playing field, and the UK government has already ensured this cannot happen with their massive bribe to Nissan to get them to remain in Sunderland. Also, I think, single market presupposes FoM. Johnson tows the line and commits the resources necessary for implementing the NI protocol (including giving the EU access to scrutinize its correct operation). - I just do not think the UK is capable of this. They have not managed even with £37,00,000,000 to have an effective track and trace system. The NI protocol is no walk in the park. NI leaves the UK and joins the ROI and so becomes part of the EU. Long term perhaps this might be in NI's ad the ROI's best interest especially if they receive help from the EU. Don't Eat Live Human Babies  I feel compelled to let everyone know that I am against the eating of live human babies. This is a serious issue and for far too long too many people have been unwilling to publically commit to this cause. I am proposing that since rainbow ribbons, pink ribbons, black ribbons have all been used up, we all post, on Facebook, a picture of ourselves wearing an adult-sized onesie to show our solidarity with human babies. In the name of all that's sane, where is the intelligent discourse amongst my friends and acquaintances that might go beyond pressing a button for an instant update of your profile picture with a catchy frame announcing "I stand against racism", "for gay pride", "black lives matter", or whatever patently bloody obviously, obviously sensible meme happens to be meme de jour. This morning I received from our illustrious gov.uk the  EU Settlement Scheme: Landlord's toolkit  For the avoidance of any doubt on my position on this, I provide an annotated first page. I will break laws where I see those laws as entirely immoral. This rogue government is telling us, to act as informants for purpose of prosecuting and deporting illegal immigrants. Some of these people being EU citizens that have lived their entire adult lives in the UK. They have made their homes, formed relationships, raised children, and contributed to the UK in innumerable ways. Many will just have failed to jump through the legislative and bureaucratic hoops suddenly created for them by a rogue coup government. I will not be part of that.
