Inheritance Tax
I received this news this morning from my financial advisor
...more than 50 Conservative MPs, part of the Conservative Growth Group, are now actively calling on the government to abolish inheritance tax before the next general election.
Among the members of the group are former Chancellor of the Exchequer Nadhim Zahawi, who wrote in The Telegraph that scrapping this “morally wrong” tax would show that the government “backs families in their desire to pass on their hard-earned savings to the next generation”.
Others include former Business Secretary Jacob Rees-Mogg, who said inheritance tax is “unfair and economically damaging”, and former Home Secretary Priti Patel, who insisted that people should be able to “determine the future of the assets they have worked hard to save and build up”...
So the millionaires amongst our elected leaders Nadhim Zahawi, Jacob Rees-Mogg, Priti Patel and presumably 47 other filthy rich MPs are all in favour of scrapping inheritance tax. What a surprise!
Government is there to create civilisation.
Civilisation, say the word slowly, and think about it; is there to create a civil society.
Civilisation is what lifts us out of the Animal Kingdom's "Survival of the Fittest" into a society where we level the playing field to protect the vulnerable and less fortunate.
The party in power now is the most uncivil and uncivilised ruling party I can remember in my lifetime.
The Tories are blind advocates of the Survival of the Richest. Tories are destroying civilisation in the UK. They are destroying the welfare state and the mechanisms that were created to raise us from our basic animal selves.
If you vote Tory now, remember you are voting for millionaires that wish to scrap inheritance tax.
Now to deal with any allegations about me being a hypocrite. I will be doing what I can to pass on (at least some) of my wealth to my children. We live in a grossly unfair society and it appears at least in the UK that it is likely to get even more unfair. I will do all I can to give the best opportunities to my kids. But I'll not be voting Tory and indeed, if there were a political party that was dedicated to making a truly fairer society for all I'd be voting for them even, maybe especially, if they set inheritance tax at 100%.
I'd back a system where all wealth after death was shared fairly for the whole society. I'm also in favour of a wealth tax, but these issues need global solutions to stop the rich from evading laws that the majority of us have to abide by.
